Our Most Exotic Delivery
We posted these pictures a few months ago on our Facebook, but we like them so much we wanted to add them to the blog here, as well.
Last Summer, we transported a truckload of exotic African Animal heads & trophies to be auctioned off from the estate of some Old-School Big-Game Hunter… it was an unusual and delicate load, indeed, but not a whisker was ruffled, not an antler went awry in transport.

You Can See the Whole State from Here
We love this interactive map of Michigan, available through the Michigan Department of Transportation website. You can zoom in and view real-time traffic conditions all over Michigan! Useful and entertaining, both.
University of Michigan Move-In Week is: NEXT WEEK
For the week beginning Monday, August 29th, we won’t expect to move too quickly through any streets with dormitories.
Some streets will be closed, people will be carrying couches, stereo speakers and those little refrigerators back and forth, and thousands of students and proud parents will be negotiating Ann Arbor’s one-way street system for the first time.
Drive carefully!

Metro Delivery Company Picnic 2011
Lots of employees showed up for the Annual Company Picnic, held July 10 at Rolling Hills Water Park (which our kids particularly appreciate). Really tasty cheeseburgers, hotdogs and side dishes were provided by Gary’s Catering, which was MUCH easier than previous years when we’ve done all the grilling ourselves. Why didn’t we think of that before?

Metro’s 4th Fourth of July Ann Arbor Parade
We’ve been a featured part of the Ann Arbor Jaycees 4th of July Parade every year since 2008, with our beach-ball-loaded 24′ liftgate truck leading the way and one of our kicky new Ford Transits bringing up the rear.
This year, we “delivered” some 460 red-white-and-blue beach balls to the throngs of people who lined the streets on a perfect day for a parade. Another great event, another great time.
Happy Independence Day, Ann Arbor!

Food Gatherers Awards Metro Delivery as “One of a Kind”
Food Gatherers of Ann Arbor named Metro Delivery “One of a Kind Gatherer” at its annual awards ceremony for 2011.
Metro managers John Rabideau and Sebastian Wreford were on hand at the April event to accept the Motawi Tile plaque pictured below for providing free delivery of foods donated to eliminate hunger in Washtenaw County.
“FoodGatherers are a terrific organization, and so friendly. We’re always glad to help out.” said Sebastian Wreford.

Mr. Rabideau accepts the Award for Metro Delivery
We deeply appreciate being able to assist Food Gatherers in their valuable work in the area.
Metro Delivery Wins Commander’s Award from Toys for Tots

2010 marks our third year carrying thousands of toys from donation centers to Santa’s Workshop, for distribution to children in need.
Our thanks to the Marine Corps and Toys for Tots for providing us with another opportunity to do good in our community!
Metro Delivery Converts Fleet to Santa Mobiles
Drivers Double as Elves
Metro Delivery vehicles don’t resemble sleighs but all are adorned this holiday season with signs proclaiming them Santa Mobiles on behalf of Toys for Tots – and, though drivers remain in uniform, badges identify them as Official Collection Elves.
“In addition to transporting donated toys from collection to sorting sites, our drivers are accepting toy donations from customers,” says Owner Sarah Talbot, noting that driver badges also “give a nudge with a message that says ‘Ask Me’ about Toys for Tots.”
As a third prong, Metro Delivery is conducting its own toy drive and also has developed participation from other businesses. Stadium Pharmacy and Stadium Opticians, Ann Arbor, and Morty’s Garden Center, Dexter, are new public collection sites; and John Hatch, DDS and Dominant Systems, Ann Arbor, signed up to sponsor internal toy drives.
Toys for Tots will accept donations through Friday, December 19, according to Tony Gillum, Washtenaw County Coordinator. Donated toys must be new, in original boxes, not gift wrapped and appropriate for ages 1-12 years. Stuffed toys are discouraged due to allergies.
“If ever there was a time for benevolence, this is the year,” Gillum said. “We want to make sure every child in Washtenaw County finds toys under the tree this Christmas.”
